About the Author
My name is Jeni Tholmer
While The Between is a work of fiction, its roots are deeply personal. For as long as I can remember, my nights have been haunted by vivid, unsettling dreams—encounters with spirits, shadowy figures, and things that defy explanation. I began writing them down after one particularly disturbing dream about a gargoyle-like devil, not knowing then that it would become the seed for this story.
Fifteen years ago, I started piecing together the world of The Between, but life—work, family, and the daily grind—put the project on hold. In early 2025, those dreams and the story they inspired called me back. Re-reading my old dream journals, I found myself reliving those encounters and emotions, and from that raw material, a very real and relatable world took shape.
Writing this book meant opening doors to memories and feelings I’d long kept closed—not just about the dreams themselves, but about love, fear, family, and the relationships that define us. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and now living in Las Vegas, Nevada, I’m proud to share a story that’s as much about facing inner darkness as it is about supernatural battles.
